The Back Creek, one of southern Maryland’s scenic waterways along which the Inn is nestled, merges with the Patuxent River and the Chesapeake Bay. Sailing and motorized boating guests may dock at one of the two slips available at the Inn’s dock.

Once a simple Queen Anne style waterman’s home, built in 1880, this home operated as the Back Creek Inn Bed & Breakfast from 1987 to 2024. To keep up with our guests’ and Innkeeper’s needs, 2024 brings updates to our accommodations that removes some guest rooms and adds a private two-bedroom, one-bathroom Little House with full kitchen, washer/dryer and private screened-in porch. Each room comes with cable TV and WiFi throughout the property. Flowers, fruit, herbs, and vegetables can be found in the Inn’s gardens along with ample seating to take in the surroundings. Pairs of Adirondack chairs grace the lawn, with views of Back Creek and the Patuxent River. These surrounding views of the gardens and waterways and its inhabitants become captured in paintings by the Inn’s owner and artist, Carol Pennock. A two-block stroll to the Solomons Island’s Riverwalk offer you a breathtaking sunset along with fine dining, casual meals, delicious desserts, and lively nightlife too!

My wife and I have been rendezvousing at this lovely B & B for more than a decade over Columbus Weekend; I arrive by boat from the Chesapeake Bay and she drives in from home. On the water of Back Creek in Solomon Island, MD, there is a double berth for boats right in the front yard, a pleasant walk from the lounge. Carol's breakfasts are noteworthy for their freshness and flavors, with home-made jams and jellies to add even more to the experience. With numerous rooms of all sizes from simple bedrooms to a stand-alone cottage, there are a variety of accomodations available. The setting is peacefull, yet just a short walk to the quiet bussle of the shops and restaurants of Solomon's. Like coming home to your favorite Cousin's abode.

We are just back from staying three nights in their Lavender Cottage. My wife and I were both very pleasantly impressed by the friendliness of the welcome and the quality of the accommodations. They emphasized that guests should make themselves at home. The property is quiet, even serene, and we had a great view of the gardens and private dock. Breakfast fare is delicious and varied. Guests can either sit by themselves, or sit at larger tables where they can comfortably socialize with others.
